Ireland’s incumbent operator Eircom said this week it has appointed Goldman Sachs International and Morgan Stanley & Co. International to explore strategic options including a potential international offering and listing (IPO).

The appointments follow the appointment of Rothschild as independent financial adviser to the telecoms operator.

Last month the company announced it had become the largest fibre network in Ireland with a footprint reaching over 750,000 homes and businesses, as well as connecting its 1,000th fibre customer.

Last November, Eircom increased its planned national fibre footprint from 1.2 million homes and businesses to 1.4 million homes and businesses across Ireland. By July 2016, 70 per cent of the country across 26 counties will have access to fibre broadband speeds of up to 100Mbs, the company said.

There are currently 15 operators using Eircom’s unbundled network to deliver services to their own customers.
